Dress Code
It is the responsibility of parents/guardians and
students to take pride in the school by dressing appropriately to maintain
an atmosphere conducive to learning.
The students at St. Joan of Arc are required to
wear the school uniform which consists of the following:
BOYS
- Uniform style navy or khaki twill pants
- White or yellow, long or short sleeved oxford
shirt, knit shirt, or turtleneck
- *Uniform style navy or khaki walking shorts
(cuffed or uncuffed).
- Red, navy, hunter green, or yellow sweaters from Schoolbelles.
- Navy, brown, or black belt
- Solid white, navy, black or brown crew socks. (Socks must be visible above the shoe and also cover the ankle. **NO LOGOS OR SCHOOL AFFILIATIONS except for SJA Warriors)
- White or navy banded shirt with or without crest from Schoolbelles.
GIRLS
- Red plaid jumper - grades K-4
- Red plaid skirt or skorts - grades 5-8 (SKIRT
LENGTH MUST BE 2 OR LESS FROM THE TOP OF THE KNEE and MAY NOT BE ROLLED AT THE WAIST)
- Uniform style navy or khaki twill pants
- *Uniform style navy or khaki walking shorts
(cuffed or uncuffed).
- White or yellow, long or short sleeved oxford
shirt, collared knit shirt, or turtleneck (no Peter Pan collars or ruffles).
- Red, navy, hunter green, or yellow sweaters
- Solid white, navy, hunter green, red or yellow tights, knee socks
or crew socks. (Socks must be visible above the shoe and also cover the ankle. **NO LOGOS OR SCHOOL AFFILIATIONS except for SJA Warriors)
- White or navy banded shirt with or without crest from Schoolbelles.
*Shorts may be worn in August, September, May, and June,
unless otherwise announced by the Administration.
Junior High
The junior high boys and girls may wear letter
sweaters in red, navy, hunter green, or yellow. The junior high girls
also have the option of wearing a navy kilt skirt or skort in addition
to the above-stated uniform.
General
Uniforms must be purchased from Schoolbelles with the
following exceptions:
- white oxford shirt, white knit shirt, white
turtleneck
- socks, tights, and belts
- Boys and girls slacks and shorts may be ordered
from Sears (Toughskins Twill School Pants), J.C. Penney (The School
Pants), The Andersons, Lands End, and Dillards. (The Parochial School Clothes). Sears
and J.C. Penneys items are listed in the companies catalogs.
- Belts must be worn with shorts and slacks.
- Shirts must be tucked in at all times - except banded shirts.
- Slacks may not be rolled up or
cuffed. Skirts may not be rolled up.
- Pants must be worn at the waist (not around the hips).
- Tee shirts worn under school uniform shirts must be solid white with no designs or logos.
- Uniforms must be in good repair
- Boys may not wear earrings to school. Girls
may not wear makeup or excessive jewelry. No extreme hairstyles are
allowed.
- No body piercing or hats permitted.
- Boys hair may not reach the top of the shirt collar and bangs should be above the eyebrows.
- Navy sweatshirts must be worn with a uniform shirt underneath.
- Shoes must have low heels - no more than 2" including sole.
- No "Peter Pan" collars permitted. No ruffle trim on shirts or turtlenecks.
- Tennis shoes may be worn.
- Uniforms must be in good repair.
- On scout meeting days, the full scout uniform
may be worn in place of the school uniform.
- Dress code violations may subject students to disciplinary actions.
Optional Items: The following items must be purchased from Schoolbelles:
- Banded oxford cloth or knit collared shirt with or without the school crest
- Navy sweatshirt with the school crest
- Navy fleece jacket with the school crest is available for outdoor wear
Out of Uniform Days:
Out of uniform days will be reviewed and permitted
at the discretion of the administration.
Dress Code for
Physical Education
GRADES K-1
- Boys and girls will not change for gym.
- Tennis shoes: Shoes must have strings or velcro
closures.
- Girls: It is recommended that girls wear uniform
slacks or shorts on gym days. If shorts are worn under jumpers, solid
red or navy GYM SHORTS may be worn.
GRADES 2-8
- Sweats: Sweats are optional and may be worn
in place of, or in addition to, shorts and shirt.
- Shirts: T shirt or other shirt NOT
worn to school THAT day. It should NOT contain any negative or lewd messages.
- Shorts: Loose fitting shorts so as to allow
maximum movement. Cut-offs or denim shorts are not recommended.
- Socks. No tights. White sweat socks are preferred.
- Tennis Shoes: Shoes must have strings or velcro
closures.
